Nov. 10 forum features Boston Scientific, Fresenius & Harvard speakers

Boston, MAOctober 7, 2020 Senior digital health executives from Boston Scientific, Fresenius and Harvard University will make up the panel for MedExecWomen’s virtual fall forum, “At the Cutting Edge of Digital Health” on Tuesday, November 10, from 4-6pm. Event registration is at http://www.medexecwomen.org/fallforum.

The event for senior level women in the medical device industry will center on a panel discussion with the three industry executives: Jodi Eddy, SVP, Chief Information and Digital Officer, Boston Scientific Corporation; Luba Greenwood, Senior Lecturer at Harvard University and former Head of Strategic Business Development at Verily (Google Life Sciences); and Anjana Harve, Senior VP & CIO, Fresenius Medical Care NA. The panel will be moderated by Maria Shepherd, President, Medi-Vantage, and the event will include networking sessions.

The panel discussion will cover:

  • The roles medtech and digital health companies can play in the shift to virtual care, including the industry’s challenges of integrating digital solutions into current clinical workflows and addressing process inefficiencies.

  • The trends we can expect with elective procedures after the precipitous drop at the start of the pandemic and the rapid surge that followed.

    • What role can digital health play in supporting these procedures during and after the pandemic?

  • Monetizing the data from medical device digital health.

  • Improving patient engagement and patient care through digital solutions.

  • COVID laid bare the need to more thoroughly assess and address healthcare inequity. We’ll look at digital health’s role and opportunity for improving/maintaining health equity.

The organizers expect a “full screen” of more than 100 executive women in the industry. “We had an impressive response for our first meeting last year, which was a full conference held in New York,” said Maria Shepherd, medtech veteran and one of the organization’s founders. More than 80 women attended. “There was such energy in the air—a great chance for these leaders to talk with their peers in other companies who are dealing with many of the same issues they deal with.”

One of last year’s registrants commented, “The attendees were the strength in that they were truly ‘leaders’ and diverse in industry roles.”

The organization had planned a conference this spring which was postponed due to COVID precautions. The fall forum will give these executives a chance to gather despite the restrictions. “We’ve set up a format that will give these medtech leaders a chance to network 1 on 1 with each other as well as gather in small groups after the central panel discussion,” Shepherd said.

MedExecWomen empowers female executives to accelerate the positive impact of medical devices, diagnostics, drug delivery and digital healthcare. Interested executive level women can reach out to the organization via membership@MedExecWomen.org to request to join.

The meeting is sponsored by Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson, Boston Consulting Group, Bank of America, Latham & Watkins, Insulet, ZS Associates, Medtronic, Sallop Insurance, Halloran, and Medi-Vantage.
