Amy L. Bush

Chief Operating Officer
WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital

Amy leads hospital operations, clinical care, fundraising and the construction of the new hospital that will be opening summer of 2021. 

Amy joined WVU Medicine as the Vice President of Operations in 2015.  She has supported numerous areas, including Surgical and Perioperative Services, Radiology and the development of the Tele stroke and Tele neurology Network.  Amy led the comprehensive stroke program accreditation. She has also played a key role in developing and overseeing the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, WVU Cancer Institute, and the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. 

Bush joined WVU Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – McKeesport, where she was vice president of operations.  Previously, she was at UPMC – Presbyterian, where she served as executive director of surgical services and led the System Surgical Services Oversight and Robotics Committees.  Prior to this Amy was a Director of Nursing in the OhioHealth system where she helped lead the construction and opening of Dublin Methodist Hospital. She has spent 26 years in healthcare, the last 21 in healthcare administration.

In addition to hospital involvement, Amy is a strong advocate for community outreach through active nursing participation in global surgical missions such as Haiti Orthopedic Trauma after the 2010 Earthquake, Guatemala Pediatric OMFS Surgery, Rural China Foot and Ankle, as well as Jamaica Medical/Vision Clinics.  

Amy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from The Ohio State University and earned a Master of Business Administration from Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business.  Amy also holds a certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR).

Alan Levine

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Ballad Health

With more than 25 years of hospital operations experience, Levine has served as chief executive officer of hospitals and health systems ranging from a small rural hospital to one of the largest public systems in America. Prior to his role at Ballad Health, Levine was the president and chief executive officer of Mountain States Health Alliance.

Levine served on Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal's cabinet as secretary of Louisiana's Department of Health and Hospitals and as Governor Jindal's senior health policy advisor. He also served as deputy chief of staff and senior health policy advisor to Florida Governor Jeb Bush prior to his appointment by Governor Bush to serve as secretary of Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration, an agency responsible for administering a $17 billion budget. In both states, Levine oversaw the state Medicaid programs and health policy for these very diverse states. In these roles, Levine oversaw the health care response to 12 major hurricanes making landfall in Florida and Louisiana, managed Louisiana’s response to the H1N1 Influenza Pandemic, led Louisiana’s effort to improve child immunization rates from ranking 48th in the nation to 2nd, successfully advocated the passage of major and historic health care reforms in both states and was recognized for his efforts in combating fraud and abuse in public health care programs. Levine has been recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the 30 Americans likely to have a powerful impact on health care in the next 30 years, and as an up-and-comer in the health care industry. His agency in Florida was the recipient of the TaxWatch Davis Productivity Award for its successful efforts to combat fraud and abuse. Levine was recently named to the East Tennessee Business Hall of Fame and Laureate by Junior Achievement.

Levine currently serves on the board of governors of the State University System of Florida, the governing body of Florida’s 12 state universities. He serves as chair of research and academic excellence and has served as chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee. He also served as the Chair of the Florida Higher Education Coordinating Council, a policy-setting body for public and private education in Florida. Most recently, he was appointed by the Governor of Tennessee to serve on the legislatively created Charter Commission for education and, separately, was asked by the Governor to serve on the Governor’s Health Care Modernization Task Force.

He received a bachelor’s degree in health sciences, a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in health sciences from the University of Florida, where he is recognized as a member of the University of Florida Hall of Fame. He is married to Laura, a nurse, and has two adult children.
